women without representation
" I wanted to be a part of something that unites women around the world"
quote from one of the many messages sent, along with a some hand knitted squares, from a woman knitting for 100 million stitches.
Along with the knit, strangers send us letters on a daily basis, telling us of the loss of mothers, grannies, of love they shared, of hopes for peace, along with the usual women's mantra: asking us again and again if their beautiful, hand made token is 'good enough'.
We receive emails informing us of knitting groups starting in Brazil, New Zealand, or a women's prison in Germany. Letters that explain that they have started knitting just to be a part of International Women's Day: the Centenary.
Your emails and stories are so important to us. Thank you.
And yes, it's more than good enough. It's just not enough - yet!
